Installing EAF with K-ASTEC bracket

Applicable to all of WO R&P focusers with modular focusing mechanism, including:

  • 2” R&P Focuser

  1. Turn the telescope over and remove the Tension screw.

  1. Remove the top cover screw near the temperature gauge with 2mm Allen key.
Starting from June 2025, new telescope models no longer include the top cover screw. (Skip Step 2)

  1. Release (don’t remove) two inner knob screws.

  1. Remove the temperature gauge knob.

  1. Find the flat side (D-cut profile) on the shaft and turn it to face the hole.

  1. Put the timing pulley (large) on the shaft and lock the two inner screws (2mm Hex wrench)

  1. Put the timing pulley (small) on the shaft of EAF and lock the two inner screws (2mm Hex wrench)
On Step 6 & 7:
Please make sure one of the screws is lock on the flat side (D-cut profile)

  1. Slide the mounting bracket over the focuser, position it vertically, and tighten the screw. (2.5mm Hex wrench)

  1. Put on the EAF, tilt it downward, and loop the belt over both pulleys.

  1. Lift the EAF upward to tension the belt, and simultaneously tighten the two M4 bracket screws (3mm Hex wrench)
 
Notes for New EAF Model [ EAFN / EAF Pro (2025) ]
  • The new EAF now has a 4 mm motor shaft, different from the older 5 mm version, but the installation steps remain the same.
  • On some new EAF units, the stainless plate surface is flat, which may leave a small gap. If there’s any looseness, insert the included 0.2 mm aluminum shim between the bracket and EAF.
